Love seems to be a common theme of most world religions but is it just a word. Should it be more of an action, a behavior, a way of life as opposed to just a word? It is a word that seems to be carelessly thrown around. It is often used synonymously with God. We have all heard the saying, “God is love.”
So, the question becomes then, if God is love and I claim to represent God, am I exhibiting love?
Let’s just take for example what the Traditional Bible says about love and examine that for a moment.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered and it keeps no record of wrongs.1 Corinthians 13:4-5. Am I representing this description of love? Are you representing this description of love?
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient bearing one another in love. Ephesians 4:2. Am I representing this description of love? Are you representing this description of love?
This is just a couple of the hundreds of examples where the Bible speaks about the importance of love and equates God with love. So, if God is love, how could his name ever be used to support bigotry, hate, and injustice all of which are the opposite of love.
I would challenge you to take a deeper look at self, as I am doing, and ask the question, “Am I representing love and therefore representing God?”
Actions speak much louder than words. Love conquers ALL and it seems we have a lot to conquer at the moment in this country.
Remember, love is patient. Love is kind. Love is not boastful. Love never dishonors another human being. Love is humble and gentle.
Are you love? Since God is love, it is impossible to separate the two. If you represent God, then you are commanded to love and not just with words.
Seeing all the recent protest with people marching into capital buildings armed with rifles and confederate flags surely does not in any way represent love or God. Yet, they profess to represent Christ. Lay down the rifles and pick up the banner of love. Wipe those evil angry expressions from your face, and put on a smile. It is perfectly okay to disagree but perhaps there is a more peaceful, loving approach.
It is my desire to be one with God (Spirit, Universe, Source). Being one requires that I act in love. It requires that my behavior represent love since God is love. I must admit, there are times I have failed miserably when it comes to representing love (God). There are times when my actions/reactions have been the complete opposite of love.
For me, it is an awareness of my own behavior and actions. I am becoming more aware daily of the necessity and desire to come from a place of love. It starts with each individual.
Pause before every interaction and every action and ask yourself, does this action/reaction represent love. For those who follow Jesus ask yourself, what would Jesus do? For those who subscribe to follow another belief or no belief at all, it’s okay. Love (patience, kindness) is still the answer.
I personally subscribe to spirit and leave all the man-made religious organizations out of it. Spirit will always lead in the direction of love.
Much love to each of you as we all tread through these deeply and unprecedented troubling times in our country.

It’s good to see the beauty and comfort of the Bible resurface, Vince, my generation has rejected it for some reason and since I learned to rely on it from childhood I felt it was a big loss to others. We don’t have to be
zealous or fanatical to appreciate these words, they can just be there to remind us of its great source of comfort in troubled times.
Thank you John. Appreciate you so much
I think you hit the nail on the head when you said it’s alright to disagree. There is no need to take that to the next level, sometimes a violent level, to prove what you believe is right. Coexist.
Can we all just get a long? That is the big question here. Thank you so much for your feedback Marianne. Love and appreciate your guidance through out the years.

Message always on point ❤😁 … Love does conquer ALL !!!!
Maurice,
It of course only conquers all if we practice it. Love and appreciate you.

Especially important in these days when self serving people claim to represent God’s will. We are called to love one another by our actions, not only by words. Thank you for reminding me of what I need to focus on.
Nancy,
These days we are living in has certainly brought more awareness to me about how important it is to come from a place of love with our actions and interactions.

That was very powerful and very instructive during these uncertain times. I must not demonize those I disagree with, for that is not love. I must rather pray that I may do God’s will and that I may be used to do God’s will. That is not easy, especially during these times. God bless.
Larry,
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my work. You are right, it is not always easy but we must be more aware of the importance of love. Especially in a world where hate seems to be encouraged.
